At Avington, we’re growing luxury fibre with integrity, passion and best practice.
At Avington our position on ethical farming and animal welfare is paramount. We believe in ethical farming principles and don’t mules our sheep. We are proud to be leading the way in Australia with our position on animal welfare, sound farming practices, sustainability and education. We are creating a new benchmark in the Australian wool growing industry for ethical farming of luxury merino fibre and strive to deliver it with integrity, passion and best practice.
The farm was established in 1996 on granite soils in the central Victorian Macedon Ranges, 98 km northwest of Melbourne, Australia. At 520m elevation, the historic average annual rainfall is 750mm, providing plenty of lush pasture for much of the year. The property has now grown to 1900 hectares and can support 21,000 Dse.
Avington is the result of Noel and Lyndsay Henderson’s passion and commitment to using ethical farming practices to produce merino wool of the highest standard. The aim from the beginning has been to grow elite superfine and ultrafine wool and operate at the highest quality standards while demonstrating traceability through all processes.
