Avington's Jackaroos

Nikita Jamson

With a lifelong passion for agriculture, Nikita studied agriculture systems at high school.  Following the completion of her VCE, Nikita headed off to Canada to work as a snowboarding instructor. Coming home to Australia reignited her dream of working in agriculture and she commenced a role as a farm hand on a mixed cropping & livestock farm in the Tasmanian midlands.

Ready for the next step in her career and a new challenge, a mutual acquaintance put Avington in touch with Nikita and she joined the team at Avington as a farm hand, moving from Tasmania to the mainland in March 2022.

Nikita fitted in immediately, bringing a sense of fun to our team. Nikita has just experienced her first shearing at Avington, and enjoyed the buzz of activity and learning about the technology employed.

Nikita is keen to further her education and will commence a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management on a part-time basis in 2023 while continuing in her role at Avington.

When she is not hard at work on the farm, Nikita plays football with the local Kyneton Womens’ team and enjoys snowboarding and visiting family in Tasmania.

Lily Richmond

Born in Lancefield, Lily joined the Avington team in February 2021 to complete a school-based apprenticeship - Certificate III in Agriculture.  Lily has recently completed her apprenticeship and has now joined us full-time as a Farm hand.

Growing up on the family farm, Lily’s lifelong dream was to work in agriculture.  She has become a much-loved member of our team and has thrived under the guiding hand of farm manager Kyle Cordy.  The hands-on work on the farm is one of the things she enjoys the most, along with learning about and using the technology Avington incorporates into their farming enterprise.

Outside of work Lily loves to play netball, water ski and help her dad during hay season.

In the future, Lily hopes to attend Ag college to further her knowledge in the industry, allowing her to take the next steps in her career.
